42.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare whether he will make immediate arrangements to have the labour exchange in Edenderry, County Offaly opened and to ensure that a person be appointed to carry out the duties of exchange manager.

With your permission, a Cheann Comhairle, I propose to take Questions Nos. 40, 41, and 42 together.

A new manager of the Branch Employment Office, Edenderry, has been appointed as on and from Monday, 18th June, 1962. The reason for the temporary transfer of the work of the Branch Employment Office at Edenderry to the Employment Exchange, Mullingar on the death of the former branch manager on 1st June, 1962, was that this was considered to be the most efficient way of dealing with the work of the Branch Office pending the appointment of a new branch manager. Deputies will appreciate that when the position of branch manager becomes vacant, it is necessary to take immediate action to provide for the custody of official moneys and the performance of the day to day work of the office.
