Vol. 196 No. 3

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Dún Laoghaire Telephone Applications.

49.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs the number of applications for telephones on hands from residents in the Dún Laoghaire Borough Council area; and how many applications received in 1960, 1961 and 1962 are awaiting service.

There are about 280 applications from the Dún Laoghaire Borough Council area of which about 130 were made in 1961 and 150 in 1962.

Would the Minister say when the 1961 applications are likely to be attended to?

Arrangements have been made to provide service in 30 cases, ten made in 1961 and 20 made in 1962. These should have service within a couple of months and it is hoped that the bulk of the remainder will be cleared in the next six months. There are cabling difficulties in some of the areas which will delay some of the applications longer.
