Vol. 196 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - New Industries: Department Officer.

137.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce the names of the countries in which a wholetime officer of his Department is maintained for the purpose of seeking new industries.

No wholetime officer of my Department is maintained abroad for the purpose of seeking new industries.

I have, however, appointed to the staff of the Industrial Development Authority, four wholetime representatives who work abroad for the purpose of attracting new industries to Ireland. One of these is in the United States and the remaining three are in Europe, operating mainly in Britain, France and Germany and visiting other countries as occasion demands.
