Vol. 196 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Compensation for Sheep Losses.

14.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if in view of the damage done to sheep by dogs in the lambing season in Wicklow he will consider establishing a fund out of the proceeds of dog licences from which farmers can be conpensated for the serious losses sustained by them.

I do not consider that such an arrangement would be justified or practicable.

The Dogs (Protection of Live Stock) Act, 1960, substantially strengthens the position of stock owners in relation to this matter.
