Vol. 196 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Import into Britain of Man-made Fibres.

18.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce whether any progress has been made in the negotiations with the British Government in respect of the import to Great Britain, free of duty, of man-made fibres of British origin which are included in finished products exported to Great Britain; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

This matter is still the subject of negotiation and I cannot usefully make any statement at this stage.

Would the Minister say whether there is any likelihood that these negotiations will be brought to a fruitful conclusion in the near future?

I am afraid I cannot say any more than I have said already. The negotiations are proceeding and it is impossible to state when the outcome is likely to be known.
