Vol. 196 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Mayo County Council Machinery Shop.

22.

asked the Minister for Local Government the date on which proposals regarding the provision of a machinery shop for Mayo County Council were received by his Department; if these proposals have been considered; and when it is expected that a decision regarding sanction will be made.

A proposal by Mayo County Council to raise a loan of £55,000 to finance an extension of the Council's machinery yard, including the erection of new buildings, stores, workshops, etc., was received in the Department on 13 June, 1961. After detailed consideration of the financial and engineering aspects of the proposal, the Council were requested to consider a modified and less costly scheme which would cater for actual and immediately prospective needs, and be capable of future extension, if needed. The Council's further views and proposals are now awaited.
