Vol. 196 No. 11

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Cork Bog Roads.

10.

asked the Minister for Finance if an application for a grant was received in his Department for the repair of the bog road at Banane, Meelin, County Cork, leading through Benjamin Casey's land to Bohus bog; if so, if he will state the date on which an inspection was made by officers of his Department; and what was the result of such inspection.

The answer to the first part of the question is in the negative and the other parts do not, therefore, arise.

11.

asked the Minister for Finance when a grant will be made available to repair the accommodation and bog road at Knockahorrea East, Rockchapel, County Cork; if he will give the date on which an inspection was made by officers of his Department; and when the work will be commenced.

I assume the Deputy is referring to the road which is described in the records of the Special Employment Schemes Office as follows:—

"Construct 135 perches of bog road from the `Milleen county road' at the late David O'Connor's bog leading west through Cornelius C. T. Curtin's bog land to the Land Commission bog road at Joe Cahill's bog."

The road was inspected on 4 July, 1961. In view of its high cost, it is not a case in which a grant could be made available from the funds at the disposal of my Office.
