Vol. 196 No. 11

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Acquisition of County Tipperary Estates.

41.

asked the Minister for Lands if proceedings have been instituted by the Land Commission for the compulsory acquisition of the estate of the late Thomas Moran (Record No. S.21994); and if in view of the great number of uneconomic holders, landless men and cottiers in the area he will take immediate steps to expedite the acquisition and division of this estate.

Proceedings have been instituted by the Land Commission for compulsory acquisition of this 260 acre estate but, until a pending objection has been disposed of, it is not possible to indicate what the outcome will be. There will be no avoidable delay in dealing with the objection.

42.

asked the Minister for Lands if proceedings have been instituted to acquire the O'Hanrahan Estate, Thorney Bridge, Clonmel, County Tipperary; and if in view of the great number of uneconomic holders, landless men and cottiers in the area he will have acquisition proceedings expedited.

Proceedings have been instituted by the Land Commission for acquisition of a substantial portion of this estate and have now reached an advanced stage. It is expected that possession will be obtained at the end of this year on the expiration of current lettings.
