Vol. 196 No. 12

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Maharees (Kerry) Public Telephone.

37.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs whether in view of the desire of both Kerry County Council and the Department of Lands that there should be a public telephone installed at the Maharees, Castlegregory, County Kerry he will take steps to have such a telephone installed without the necessity for the Council to indemnify his Department against losses incurred in its operation.

I am sorry the answer must be in the negative. Public telephones are not provided at places where they are likely to involve an annual loss. Exceptions are made only where there is a sub-post office or where the local authority gives a guarantee against loss.
