Vol. 197 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - PAYE: Personal Allowance Increase.

38.

andMr. P. O'Donnell asked the Minister for Finance if he will consider increasing the personal allowance in relation to PAYE to a sum in excess of £312 p.a. so as to exclude council road workers, domestic staffs in county institutes, farm workers and other such workers.

The question of altering the income tax personal allowances is, of course, a budgetary matter and is one for consideration at the appropriate time. The Deputies will appreciate, therefore, that I cannot say at this stage what proposals my next Budget Statement may or may not contain.
