Proposals for improvement works were discussed on Wednesday last at a meeting in Burtonport between local fishermen and representatives of the Fisheries Branch, the Donegal County Council and the Office of Public Works. Alternative proposals were made by the fishermen and these will be considered. A further engineering survey is necessary and a report will be sent by Office of Public Works to the Fisheries Branch for consideration early in the New Year.

asked the Minister for Finance if he will ensure that the navigation lights erected on the approaches to Burtonport Harbour, County Donegal, are switched on and connected up with the main current forthwith, as fishing vessels entering the approaches find great difficulty in navigation without these lights.

This scheme provides for the erection of twelve lights. Two are in operation and four are in process of installation. Delivery of the other six is expected next week and all will be working before the end of November.
