asked the Minister for Education what proposals are being considered by his Department for the erection or extension of national schools in County Dublin, in the form of a reply of 26th October, 1960.

The position regarding proposals for the erection or extension of national schools in County Dublin is as follows:—

A suitable site has been offered. Sketch plans for a school for 160 pupils were prepared by the Commissioners of Public Works. In view, however, of the very many new houses being built in the area, the accommodation requirements are now being re-investigated.

Ballyboghill

A suitable site has been offered by the manager. The accommodation has been fixed at 120 pupils in three classrooms. The Commissioners of Public Works have been asked to furnish sketch plans and an estimate of cost.

Dalkey Convent

A suitable site has been offered. The manager has arranged with her Architects to have sketch plans for the new school prepared and furnished to the Department with an estimate of the cost. The plans and estimate are now awaited.

Balscadden

A site has been offered by the manager and the Commissioners of Public Works have been asked to report as to whether the site is suitable, and if so, to furnish a sketch plan and estimate of the cost.

Ballyroan Road G.

The Commissioners of Public Works were recently asked for a report as to the suitability of site offered by manager. If the site is suitable the manager will be asked to have sketch plans prepared by his own Architect and submitted to the Department together with an estimate of cost, for consideration.

Manager offered a site but the Commissioners are unable to recommend its acceptance. Manager is now considering whether he can get another site, or whether he will have improvements carried out to the present school.

Swords B./G.

A revised site recently offered has been approved by the Commissioners of Public Works. Investigations are proceeding into the question of the accommodation which will be required in the new schools. When this matter has been resolved the manager will be asked to have sketch plans prepared by his own Architect.

The Naul

A suitable site has been offered by the manager; the accommodation requirements are being investigated. When a decision is taken on the accommodation the Commissioners of Public Works will arrange for the preparation of sketch plans and an estimate of cost.

Ring

A site offered by the manager is too small, and he is to try and get an extension to it. If this is not possible he proposes to offer an alternative site.

Sallynoggin Infants'

A suitable site has been offered, and the manager has been asked to have sketch plans prepared by his Architects, and to furnish an estimate of cost for consideration.

Killiney Protestant

The manager will have great difficulty in getting a site for a new school in this district. No progress as regards deciding on the accomodation required, or the preparation of plans can be made until a site is offered.

A grant has been sanctioned by the Department towards the cost of providing an additional classroom at this school. The Commissioners of Public Works hope to be in a position to begin preparation of the working drawings in the next couple of months. They expect that the case will go to tender in the Spring of next year.

Rolestown

Sketch plans for two extra rooms were prepared by Commissioners of Public Works. The present manager thinks, however, that one extra room might be sufficient. He will consider this matter further and will then furnish his views to the Department.

It is proposed to provide an extra classroom for 40 pupils at the Boys' School, and to carry out extensive improvements to both schools. The Commissioners of Public Works have recently furnished a sketch plan showing their proposals and an estimate of cost. When the question of the local contribution has been decided the Department will sanction a grant towards the cost of the scheme.

Commissioners of Public Works report that the provision of an extra room for 48 pupils is feasible. Question of local contribution is now being taken up with the school manager with a view to the sanction of a grant.

Hedgestown

Commissioners of Public Works have furnished sketch plans for a scheme for the extra room for 32 pupils. The scheme also includes for w.cs. and septic tank, teacher's room and play-shelter, etc. Question of local aid has now to be taken up with the school manager who will have to acquire a plot of ground on the opposite side of the public road for a septic tank.

Scoil Treasa Naofa (Special School) Blackrock.

The proposal here is to provide four extra rooms each for 20 pupils. The manager was asked by the Department sometime ago to arrange to have sketch plans prepared by her own Architect and to furnish them to the Department with an estimate of the cost for consideration.

Kilcoskin

A grant has been sanctioned by the Department for a scheme of improvements at this school. The working drawings for the scheme are now being prepared by the Commissioners of Public Works who expect to be in a position to invite tenders early next year.

Damastown

A grant has been sanctioned by the Department towards the cost of an extensive scheme of improvements at this school. The working drawings are being prepared by the Commisioners of Public Works Who hope to invite tenders for the scheme early in the comming year.
