asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will state in respect of new industries established in the State during the period 1952-62 (a) the number of industries established, (b) the estimated capital investment involved, and (c) the numbers employed in such industries in the area within a 30 mile radius of the centre of (i) Dublin (ii) Cork (iii) Galway and (iv) Limerick.
I propose, with the permission of An Ceann Comhairle, to take Questions Nos. 36, 37 and 38 together. The number of new industries and extensions to existing industries which have come to notice as having commenced production in the period from the 1st January, 1952 to the 30th September, 1962, is 913. There may, of course, have been others of which there is no official record. The records of my Department are not kept in a form which would permit me to say how many of these undertakings are located within the radius specified of the cities mentioned in the questions but, taking the county in each case, the locations of these 913 undertakings are as follows:
