Vol. 197 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Bank Security Arrangements.

137.

asked the Minister for Justice if he will state in connection with additional security arrangements, including the installation of new strong-room safes, taken by certain banks in order to foil raids what steps his Department have taken in co-operation with the banks to strengthen these security arrangements.

The Gardaí work in close co-operation with the banks in the matter of security arrangements and members of the Force have explicit instructions to pay particular attention to bank premises. Many of the additional security arrangements made by various banks have in fact been made on the advice of the Garda Síochána and, generally, there is full consultation between the Gardaí and the bank authorities as to the security measures that are necessary.
