Vol. 197 No. 8

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Monaghan Land Project Inspections.

10.

asked the Minister for Agriculture whether he is aware that it takes about six months from the date of application to the Land Project Office to get an inspection done and approval given in County Monaghan; and whether anything can be done to reduce this time lag.

The average delay taking the county as a whole is four to five months. In some parts of the county, however, the time between lodging of applications and issue of approvals might amount to six months. It is my aim to reduce this time lag everywhere to one of three to four months.

Can the Minister give me any indication as to when he hopes to realise this hope, because the delays are now becoming a subject of very general comment and complaint?

I understand that there was other urgent work to which some people involved in the examination scheme had to be diverted. They will be retrieved to the scheme in a matter of the next few weeks.
