Mr. Ryan

asked the Minister for Justice the number of meetings of district justices convened to date by the President of the District Court in accordance with the provisions of the Courts (Supplemental Provisions) Act, 1961, the number of justices who (a) were summoned to and (b) attended at such meetings, and the total expenses incurred by justices in attending such meetings, which were defrayed from public funds.

One meeting was convened by the President of the District Court. All the 35 justices were notified to attend and 34 did so. One justice was unable to attend for an unavoidable reason.

The total amount paid to the justices for expenses in attending the meeting was £154 14s. 4d.
