Ceisteanna—Questions Oral Answers. - South-West Cork Schemes.

9.

asked the Minister for Finance if he will give details of all (a) minor relief schemes, (b) bog development schemes, (c) accommodation road schemes, and (d) other works carried out by his Department in south-west Cork in 1962; and if he will give details of proposals for future work under these schemes, the amount of money to be expended, and amount of employment to be given.

Details of minor employment schemes sanctioned for the year 1962/63 for the south west Cork area are contained in the copy of the list sent to the Deputy on 2nd November, 1962. Details of the bog development schemes are contained in the copy of the lists, drainage and road, sent to the Deputy on 26th June and 20th November, 1962, respectively. The number of rural improvement road schemes sanctioned for the area in the financial year to date is 18 schemes costing £4,879 of which the state grant is £4,103, the balance £776 being the farmers' contributions. Particulars of the allocations for employment schemes in the urban areas of Clonakilty, Macroom and Skibbereen, for the non-urbanised towns of Bantry and Dunmanway, and for the minor marine works in the south west Cork area are appended to the end of this statement. All money available this year for minor employment schemes, bog development schemes, urban and town schemes and marine proposals has already been allocated and no further allocation for this area will be made under these heads. The further amount which may be allocated under rural improvements schemes is dependent on the contributions made by farmers and cannot, therefore, be anticipated. Records of expenditure are not kept on a constituency basis but it is anticipated that with the exception of minor marine proposals all sums allocated will be expended by the end of the financial year. It would not be possible at this stage to give details of the employment to be given.
