Vol. 198 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Turkey Supplies.

40.

asked the Minister for Agriculture whether supplies of turkeys will be plentiful at Christmas; and at what price per pound retail they are expected to sell in the Dublin area.

The turkey season has not really started yet, and forecasts of the kind requested by the Deputy are hazardous. I understand the general expectation is that supplies should prove adequate at prices which will be determined by supply and demand in Britain and Ireland.

As in other years, particulars of the supplies and prices of turkeys at British and Irish markets during the turkey season are now being published in daily bulletins issued by my Department through the press and radio.
