asked the Minister for Finance the total number, and the rank, of officers in his Department and in other Departments who are at present engaged on work directly relating to the preparation for Ireland's entry into the Common Market.

The answer is in the form of a tabular statement which, with the permission of the Ceann Comhairle, I propose to circulate with the Official Report.

(1) Apart from the officers mentioned as employed "part-time" on the work of preparation for Ireland's entry into the Common Market many other officers occasionally deal with EEC work in the course of their normal duties.

(2) It is not possible to show separately the number of officers in common services, e.g., typing pools, who are employed on Common Market work.
