Vol. 198 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Total Unemployment.

1.

andMr. McQuillan asked the Taoiseach the total number of persons unemployed; and what percentage of the total working population this represents.

The total number of persons on the live register on the 1 December, 1962, was 48,697. The percentage unemployed is calculated by relating the number of currently insured persons on the live register, excluding those in agriculture, fishing and private domestic service, to the estimated corresponding currently insured population. This percentage at 17 November, 1962, the latest date available, was 5.6.
