asked the Minister for Finance the rhythm of tariff reductions between entry into the European Economic Community and complete removal of tariffs in 1970 which was proposed by the Taoiseach as suitable to this country in his negotiations with the EEC in Brussels.

The question of the rhythm of tariff reductions to be applied by Ireland to protective industrial tariffs in the European Economic Community will form part of the negotiations with the member States of the Community. The proposals in this respect which have been made by the Irish Government are in the form of a tabular statement which I propose, with your permission, Sir, to circulate with the Official Report.
