27.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare the number of persons who are in receipt of (a) contributory old-age pensions, (b) full non-contributory old-age pensions, and (c) partial non-contributory old-age pensions in North Tipperary at the latest date for which information is available.

With your permission, a Leas-Cheann Comhairle, I propose to take Questions Nos. 26 and 27 together.

Statistics of contributory and non-contributory old age pensions are not compiled by my Department for the separate areas of North and South Tipperary, but only for the county as a whole. The particular information requested by the Deputies is not, therefore, available. I might also point out that statistics for non-contributory old age pensions by county are compiled only as at 31st December each year.

In regard to County Tipperary, the number of persons receiving contributory old age pension on 30th November, 1962, was 1,848. The number of persons receiving non-contributory old age pension on 31st December, 1961, at the full rate was 4,508 and at partial rates, 454.

28.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare the number of persons in receipt of (a) widows' contributory pensions and (b) widows' non-contributory pensions in North Tipperary at the latest date for which information is available.

The information asked for by the Deputy is not available in respect of North Tipperary as statistics are compiled by my Department for the combined area of North and South Tipperary. The latest information available is that at 30th September, 1962, there were 1,478 widows in receipt of contributory pensions and 1,005 widows in receipt of non-contributory pensions in County Tipperary.
