Vol. 198 No. 8

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Visit of US Secretary of State.

9.

asked the Minister for External Affairs if the Government or he proposes to discuss any specific matters with the US Secretary of State, Mr. Dean Rusk, when he visits this country; and, if so, the nature of the matters proposed for discussion; or if the visit is merely a courtesy one.

I regard the visit as a courteous and very welcome call on Ireland.

There are no set subjects for discussion but I hope the Secretary of State will have an opportunity of meeting the President, the Taoiseach and some members of the Government and Opposition and of having a brief exchange of views on matters of mutual interest.

Would the Minister consider showing him some of the former Taoiseach's speeches on neutrality and then showing him some of the present Taoiseach's speeches?

That is a separate question.

Have a bit of sense.
