Vol. 198 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Mayo Lands.

31.

asked the Minister for Lands the names of the lands that the Land Commission have in their possession in Co. Mayo, giving the location and acreage.

The difficulties in the way of supplying the particulars requested, in relation to County Mayo, were outlined in my reply to a question by Deputy Michael Browne on 3rd July last, to which I would refer the Deputy. Perhaps, in the circumstances, it would meet the Deputy's requirements to know that, apart from substantial areas of mountain, turbary, etc., the Land Commission have on hands in County Mayo an aggregate area of some 4,000 acres of arable land for use as a working pool for land settlement in the county.

If the Deputy is concerned about any particular estate, and furnishes details, I shall have the matter examined.
