Vol. 199 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Tyrrellspass (Westmeath) Water Supply.

40

asked the Minister for Local Government whether he has received a revised proposal from the Westmeath County Council for the extension of the water supply from Tyrrellspass, County Westmeath to Toar Tyrrellspass; and whether he has sanctioned the proposal.

No revised proposal has been submitted. A proposal to appoint a consulting engineer to complete the planning of this and other water supply extensions was, however, submitted by the council and was approved by my Department on the 15th instant.

Is the position now clear for the local authority to go ahead with the work?

There is the question of the appointment of a consulting engineer. The proposal to appoint the consulting engineer has been approved by the Minister for Local Government.

Is it necessary for the scheme to come back to the Department again?

Yes, when the scheme is planned.
