Vol. 199 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Communal TV Services in Dublin.

29.

asked the Minister for Local Govenment whether, in the light of recent reports on the question of the legality, or otherwise, of existing outdoor TV aerials in Dublin Corporation housing schemes, he will urge that body to provide communal, specially constructed pylons and piped reception in the interests of satisfactory viewing, and to avoid any levying of insurance costs upon the tenants concerned.

I am satisfied that the corporation are aware of the different ways in which the matter in question may be dealt with and I do not propose to interfere with their discretion in deciding what method to adopt.

Would the Minister consider having steel clips built into new houses in order to prevent a lot of this trouble?

It is a matter for the corporation.

Is it not the Minister who sanctions the houses?

There is no responsibility on the Minister at all.

None whatever?

This is an entirely different matter.
