Vol. 199 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Garda Síochána Service Extension.

67.

Mr. Ryan

asked the Minister for Justice if he will now grant an extension of service to members of the Garda Síochána who hold 1917-21 medals without bar; and, if not, if he will detail his reasons for refusing to grant such extension.

As I indicated in reply to a Question on 3rd April last, the grant of an extension of service to the members in question has been considered sympathetically on several occasions by my predecessors and myself but it has been decided that such an extension would not be in the best interests of the Force.
