Vol. 199 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Airmail Tonnage through Shannon Airport.

20.

asked the Minister for Transport and Power why the tonnage of airmail through Shannon Airport shows a remarkable decline in the year just ended.

: The decline in the total volume of air mail traffic in 1962 was due to a decrease in transit mail traffic through Shannon Airport caused by a reduction in the number of landings by one American all-cargo carrier. Terminal mail—that is Irish originating and terminating mail—in fact increased at each of the airports.
