Vol. 199 No. 10

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Waterford Mineral Deposits.

37.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will have the possibility of the development of copper and other valuable minerals in the districts of Comeragh and Mahon Valley, County Waterford, explored.

The principal known mineral occurrences of Comeragh and the Mahon Valley districts are copper and small amounts of other minerals. The accessible mineral was, however, removed during mining operations in the last century and any redevelopment of the mines would depend on the successful outcome of further exploration. Prospecting has been carried out in the area over the past two years under prospecting licences which I granted to Bonmahon Copper Mines Ltd.
