The capital liabilities and assets of the State and the amount paid in service of the national debt are computed only at the end of each financial year. Accordingly, it is not possible to furnish these statistics in respect of the calendar year 1962. Table 258 of the Statistical Abstract 1961 gives particulars of the capital liabilities and assets at 31st March in a number of years up to 1961. For the corresponding figures at 31st March, 1962, I would refer the Deputy to Accounts Nos. XXIV and XXV of the Finance Accounts for the year ended 31st March, 1962 which have been presented to both Houses of the Oireachtas. The amount paid in service of the national debt in 1961/62 is to be found in Account No. XIII of the same Accounts.
