asked the Taoiseach the prices paid to Ireland for butter sold in (a) Britain (b) France and (c) Italy during the year 1962, and the corresponding prices paid on the home market.

In 1962 the average export prices (f.o.b.) for creamery butter exported to Great Britain, France and Italy were £14 17s. 8d., £10 6s. 5d. and £9 18s. 1d. per cwt. respectively. Exports of factory butter were also made to Great Britain, the average export price (f.o.b.) being £17 0s. 0d. per cwt. The wholesale price of creamery butter on the home market in 1962 was £23 9s. 0d. per cwt. for salted butter and £23 18s. 9d. for unsalted butter.
