Vol. 200 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Civilian Appointments to Corps of Engineers.

87.

asked the Minister for Defence if it is a fact that he, through the Establishment Branch, nominates candidates for vacancies amongst the civilian staffs of the corps of engineers before lists are obtained from the Employment Exchange or before interviews are held.

If the word "nominates" in the question is intended to imply that a decision as to the persons to be appointed to vacancies in the civilian staff of An Cór Innealtóirí is taken in advance of the receipt of lists from the employment exchanges or before interviews are held the answer is "no".

In accordance, however, with long standing practice the names of persons who make application for such employment are noted for consideration in the Establishment Branch of my Department.
