Vol. 200 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Milk Price Incentive.

11.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if he intends to give a price incentive for quality milk supplied to creameries.

There is already a price incentive for compositional quality of milk supplied to creameries, since the milk must be paid for on the basis of its butter-fat content. As regards a price incentive for hygienic quality it is at present open to creameries to pay such an incentive on whole milk bought by them. I understand that this matter was considered by the Dairy Produce Survey Team and no doubt it will come up for consideration by the Study Group and by the Government at a later date.
