Vol. 200 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Stamp Vending Machines.

31.

Mr. Ryan

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if he will have vending machines provided outside major post offices for the sale of books of stamps, having regard to the fact that such machines are on the market, and that people desiring to purchase a number of stamps frequently experience difficulty in collecting sufficient small change to operate existing machines.

This matter is being considered. I am not in a position to give a definite reply at this stage.

32.

Mr. Ryan

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs whether sales of stamps through vending machines are taken into account when assessing, for the purpose of calculating postmistresses' remuneration, the volume of business passing through an office.

Subpostmasters receive the same credit for stamps sold through stamp vending machines installed in their offices as for stamps sold over the counter.
