Vol. 200 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Teachers' Pension Rights.

39.

asked the Minister for Education if, in view of the fact that there is a reciprocal arrangement between the Republic and Northern Ireland for pension rights for teachers in religious orders, he will extend the arrangement to lay teachers in consultation with his counterpart in Northern Ireland.

There is no such arrangement in operation and, therefore, no question of extending it arises. What the Deputy probably has in mind was an interim arrangement which obtained up to 1934 and referred to both lay and religious teachers.
