Vol. 200 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers - Limerick City Parking Regulations.

41.

asked the Minister for Local Government whether he has received a letter from Limerick Chamber of Commerce with regard to the implementation of revised parking regulations in the City of Limerick; and whether he will take immediate steps to have a revised code of parking regulations brought into force in the city.

I received the letter referred to by the Deputy on 23rd February, 1963, and a reply issued from my Department on 1st March.

The proposed bye-laws were submitted for my approval by the Commissioner of the Garda Síochána on 4th February. My approval could not be given until after the expiration of the statutory period of one month prescribed in subsection (5) of Section 6 of the Road Traffic Act, 1961. This period has now elapsed and the question of giving my approval is receiving attention.

Bringing the bye-laws into operation will be a matter for the Commissioner of the Garda Síochána in conjunction with the Limerick Corporation, who will erect the necessary traffic signs.
