Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Mobile Dental Clinic.

13.

asked the Minister for Health whether, further to a reply of 24th January in regard to the possibility of establishing a mobile dental clinic for treatment of children under general anaesthetic in which he stated that in certain Dublin areas such treatment was provided in local hospitals or health centres, he will now investigate the possibility of providing this treatment in the other outlying Dublin areas with a view to minimising the present hardship suffered by children who have to travel long distances to the Cornmarket Clinic.

The arrangements for the provision of dental treatment for eligible children under general anaesthetic is a matter for the Dublin Health Authority in the first instance.

I understand that the health authority propose to undertake a review of their arrangements under this head as part of a more comprehensive review of their dental services generally. I propose to ask them, however, to consider what arrangements could be made as an interim measure pending the more comprehensive review to provide facilities for treatments under general anaesthetic at centres more convenient to patients.
