Vol. 200 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Tipperary Land Allotments.

45.

(South Tipperary) asked the Minister for Lands the total number of applicants in County Tipperary who received any land from the Land Commission in the past five years, giving the acreage in each case.

In County Tipperary, during the five year period ended 31st March, 1962, a total of 473 allottees received allotments aggregating 8,739 acres. Details of individual allotments are not readily available and could be ascertained at this stage only by a detailed examination of the numerous estate files concerned. Having regard to the very large number of allotments involved, to do so would entail a disproportionate expenditure of official time and I would not feel justified in present circumstances in diverting staff to such work. If the Deputy is concerned about any particular allotment I would suggest that he communicate direct with the Land Commission in the matter.
