Vol. 200 No. 8

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Drainage of Tipperary River.

7.

asked the Minister for Finance whether he is aware of the damage and hardship caused by the frequent flooding of the River Anner, South Tipperary; whether any scheme for the drainage of this river is at present contemplated; whether any action is to be taken in the near future to stop the flooding; and whether he will have an immediate investigation carried out with a view to taking measures to prevent the further flooding of this river.

The drainage of the River Anner can be undertaken by the Commissioners of Public Works only as part of a comprehensive drainage scheme under the Arterial Drainage Act, 1945 for the River Suir catchment. It is intended to include the Anner River in that scheme which is being surveyed as I explained in my reply to the Deputy's question on 12th November last.
