Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Commission on Revival of Irish Language.

7.

asked the Taoiseach whether he has received a preliminary report from the Commission on the Revival of the Irish language; if so, at what date; and whether its contents are to be made public.

As I have already informed the Dáil on a number of occasions, the Commission, within a year of their appointment, submitted two interim reports—one on Television in March 1959, and the second on the provision of text-books in Irish for secondary schools in July 1959. The publication of these interim reports will be considered in conjunction with the publication of the Commission's final report, when received.

A preliminary summary of the Commission's final report was sent, informally, to me by the chairman on Tuesday last. This summary has, as yet, no official standing, and no question of publication arises at the moment.
