Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Hearing of Dublin Circuit Court Cases.

53.

Mr. Ryan

asked the Minister for Justice if he will cause to be published in the Legal Diary at the commencement of each Law Term a comprehensive list of cases to be heard in the Dublin Circuit Courts during that term, listing and numbering such cases in the order in which they will be heard; and, if not, why.

I am not disposed to make an arrangement as suggested by the Deputy.

As civil cases can be entered during term for hearing at ten days' notice, it would not be possible to publish at the commencement of a term a comprehensive list of cases to be heard in that term. As the order in which cases are heard depends among other things, on arrangements made between the parties, frequently at short notice, it would not be possible, at the commencement of term, to indicate the order of hearing. The production of a list, as suggested by the Deputy, would involve a substantial amount of clerical work, and it has not been indicated to me that such a list would be regarded as valuable by the general body of legal practitioners.
