Vol. 201 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions Oral Answers. - Workmen's Compensation.

25.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if he has examined paragraphs 401 and 402 of the majority report, paragraphs 40 and 41 of the minority report, and pages 326 and 327 of the Reports of the Commission on Workmen's Compensation; and, if so, when the recommended safety legislation for agricultural workers will be presented to the Dáil.

I have seen the reports referred to by the Deputy.

In so far as accidents arising out of the use of agricultural machinery are concerned I would refer the Deputy to the reply given to a question asked by him on 2nd May, 1962.

In regard to the control of poisons used for agricultural and veterinary purposes the provisions of the Poisons Act, 1961, provide adequate powers. The question of any further control which may be necessary will be examined by the Council set up under the Act.
