Vol. 201 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions Oral Answers. - Income from Agriculture.

4.

asked the Taoiseach if he will expand Tables 10 and 11 in Economic Statistics, 1963 to give separate figures for Agriculture, excluding forestry and fishing.

It is not proposed to expand Tables 10 and 11 in Economic Statistics, 1963, to give separate figures for “Agriculture”, and for “Forestry and fishing”, since it is not the practice to show details in respect of small sectors of the economy in respect of which the figures cannot be estimated accurately. It has, however, been decided to give in the text of the publication separate details for “Agriculture”.

While it is true that the composite figure has in it a large element and a small element, one of the elements can properly be described, as the Parliamentary Secretary has done, as small. The other is very big and it seems to me that it would be of very material assistance to us if separate figures for agriculture were provided.

The reply has stated that will be done.

I am quite satisfied with that.

Question No. 5 postponed.
