Vol. 201 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Longford Lands.

23.

asked the Minister for Lands the acreage of land in the possession of his Department in County Longford (1) for forestry purposes, (2) for supplementing small holdings and (3) for providing new holdings for migrants.

The total area held by Forestry Division in County Longford is 3,102 acres, of which 2,746 acres have been planted. The plantable reserve is 245 acres.

Apart from turbary and insignificant residues of allotted estates, the Land Commission have at present on hands in County Longford an aggregate area of some 1,300 acres for use as a working pool for land settlement in the county but it is not yet possible to indicate how these lands will be allocated.

24.

asked the Minister for Lands the acreage of land allotted to small farmers to supplement their holdings in County Longford for each of the years from 1957 to 31st March, 1963.
