I propose with your permission, a Cheann Comhairle, to take Questions Nos. 46 and 47 together.
Non-commissioned officers and privates directly involved in the provision of the emergency transport service of Army lorries at Dublin, Cork and Galway will be paid special allowances as follows:— Drivers and conductors, 52/6d. per week; other non-commissioned officers and privates 35/- per week.
No man involved in these duties will suffer a reduction in his ordinary pay or marriage allowance. A man who normally is not supplied with rations but receives a cash allowance instead will, if supplied with rations, not be eligible for payment of this cash allowance.
Further, certain allowances to cover out-of-pocket expenses are paid for the performance of duties with An Fórsa Cosanta Áitiúil. I have arranged that while the personnel concerned are temporarily engaged on the emergency transport service, these allowances will be continued in whole or in part on the analogy of the arrangements which apply when such personnel are detailed for courses of instruction.
The following are particulars of personnel who have been transferred from their normal place of duty in connection with the provision of the emergency transport service:—
