Vol. 202 No. 10

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Law Library Furniture.

11.

Mr. Ryan

asked the Minister for Finance whether the furniture, or any part thereof, in the ante-room of the Law Library, Four Courts, Dublin, was provided by the State; and, if so, if steps will be taken to secure the return to the ante-room of the chairs which have been removed therefrom in recent years.

The furniture provided at State expense for the ante-room of the Law Library in the Four Courts consisted of two oak tables and two cushioned seats. It was supplied as part of the general arrangement with the Bar Council in regard to accommodation for the Council in the reconstructed Four Courts building. The State has no further responsibility for the furnishing of the ante-room.

In 1958, 12 bentwood chairs were supplied on loan to the Bar Council while the cushioned seating in the ante-room was being repaired. The chairs were withdrawn on completion of that work. Their return to the ante-room is not contemplated.
