Vol. 202 No. 10

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Tuam Industry.

27.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if there are any proposals before his Department or the Industrial Development Authority for the establishment of an alternative industry in Tuam, County Galway to employ the workers who were formerly with the Weir Textile Mills which has recently closed down.

I am not at present aware of any proposal for the establishment of a new industry at Tuam. As I have indicated previously, any sound proposal that may be submitted to me will receive my most sympathetic consideration. I understand that some of the former workers of the Weir Textile Mills have found alternative industrial employment in the Tuam area.
