asked the Minister for Justice the number of robberies involving sums of over £500, or goods to the value of over £500, which occurred in the State in each of the years 1925, 1935, 1945, 1955, 1960, 1961, 1962, and to date in 1963, and the number of such crimes which remain unsolved to date and which were committed in each of the years 1960, 1961 and 1962 and to date in 1963.

The numbers of robberies involving sums over £500 or property over £500 in value in the years mentioned in the question were as follows:—

1925, 4 robberies (none solved); 1935, 1945 and 1955, nil; 1960, 1 robbery (not solved); 1961 to date, nil, subject to the reservation that the amount involved in a recent mail van robbery is not yet known.
