Vol. 203 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Imports of Ladies' Stockings.

53.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce whether any licences have been issued for the import of ladies' stockings under the Control of Imports Quota (No. 12) Order, 1935; if so, how many; at what date they were issued; what import conditions, if any, were stated on the licences; whether any stockings were imported on foot of these licences; and whether such imports were in compliance with the conditions stated on the licences.

During the present quota period which commenced on 1st March last, 165 licences have been issued for the importation of ladies' stockings. Stockings have been imported on foot of these licences.

Licences are issued subject to a condition restricting importation to stockings of a value of not less than 50/-per dozen pairs. The administration of import restrictions under the Control of Imports Acts is the responsibility of the Revenue Commissioners.
