asked the Minister for Local Government how many houses have been built by private enterprise in Kildare, Meath and Westmeath during the years 1960-61, 1961-62, and 1962-63, the amount of money given in small dwellings acquisition loans, and the amount of grant given by his Department for houses of all kinds being built by private enterprise; and how many houses were built by the local authorities there during the same period.

With your permission, a Cheann Comhairle, I propose to give the answer in the form of tabular statements, which will be circulated with the Official Report.

Following are the statements:

* STATEMENT showing the number of new houses built in Counties Kildare, Meath and Westmeath in respect of which new house grants have been paid in the years 1960-61, 1961-62 and 1962-63.

* The Department's statistics for private housing relate only to houses built with the aid of grants under the Housing Acts, they do not include all houses built by private enterprise but do, in fact, represent the bulk of them.
